Hi all! I am Chris owner of GNG, thanks for visiting my beauty biz site! I’ve been in the cosmetic industry forever! (1998 to be exact! )My first makeup job was when I was 17 as a Clinique beauty advisor, from there I have held positions as a Estee Lauder Counter Manager, Cosmetic Manager for Von Maur department stores, and as an Estee Lauder Account Coordinator for the BonTon Corporation.
My grandma was the one that introduced me to makeup. She bought me my first pressed powder from Merle Norman when I was 14. She was a strong, smart, and kind woman who was determined to help others, and devoted her life to teaching children. I owe my beginning in the makeup industry to her!
I stepped out of the Corporate Cosmetic world to start my own makeup on location business when I became a mom in 2014. I wanted to stay home with my kids, but I also wanted to work, so Gunpowder ‘N Gloss was born!
From starting as a makeup on location business it morphed into a makeup brand. Gunpowder n Gloss is more than just makeup—it’s “Teaching my girls that confidence isn’t about looking a certain way but feeling strong and beautiful from within. They inspire me every day to embrace my own confidence, and I hope they carry that mindset through life
My business name Gunpowder ‘n Gloss was formed by my Veteran husband Andrew, he was a AMMO Sergeant in the United States Air Force, so he had a part in creating the catchy, cool name we have. He’s also, had a hand in helping not only in creating the name, but helping build custom displays to showcase products in our retailer stores.
My makeup shades were chosen for clients that just wanted makeup colors that were natural. Shades inspired by the colors of the countryside, from the soft blush of a morning sunrise to the rich hues of a dusky sunset over the fields cruising on the backroads.
I love all things about living in the country, so I wanted my brand to represent that!
My products are designed with you in mind and honoring the heritage of rural USA. It’s dedicated to the strong and beautiful women who embrace their roots. America’s Heartland is the home of the Tuff and Pretty spirit.
Thanks so much for being here!
xoxo,
Chris Leivian, GnG Founder
